This interactive scavenger hunt, designed by PWSSC, will let you choose your own adventure while learning all about fungus and the role it plays in our forest. Grab a scavenger hunt sheet out of the box below the Crater Lake Trail sign and head out to find some fungus! The clues will lead you to distinct "Mushrooms" where you will find Fun-Fungus Facts to increase your mushroom knowledge.
Join PWSSC for a mushroom walk specifically designed for mini-mycologists. This mushroom foray will meet at Crater Lake Trailhead, across the street from Skaters Cabin. Children will learn the basics of what makes a fungus a fungus, how to identify common mushrooms, and tips for being good mushroom stewards.

Join us for this special fungus-themed Discovery Cordova. We will host fungus games and learning at Nirvana Park, targeted at children pre-K through elementary. We will enjoy some fungus dissection, arts and crafts, a mushroom hunt, and some button making!
Kate Mohatt is a vegetation ecologist with the Chugach National Forest and founder of the Turnagain Arm Mycological Society. She has been collecting fungi in Alaska since 2006 and co-authored Mushrooms of the National Forests in Alaska. Kate contributes to the Girdwood Fungus Fair and Cordova Fungus Festival, sharing her expertise in botany, invasive plant management, and mycology. At the Forest Service, she leads field projects, coordinates seasonal staff, conducts plant surveys, completes biological evaluations for NEPA compliance, manages GIS databases, prepares project proposals, and provides botanical input for special use permits. She also gives presentations and reports to both public and internal audiences, bringing science and education together in her work.
Get creative on Friday evening from 6–9 PM with a paint night hosted by the Ilanka Cultural Center. All are welcome to join this fun, guided art experience.

Join us at the Pioneer Igloo Hall for a delicious three course dinner featuring iconic local ingredients and flavors. Your ticket includes dinner, live music and entertainment, and access to a one-of-a-kind silent auction. This event is BYOB, so bring your own favorite beverage.
Proceeds from the Feast go directly toward bringing in a keynote speaker for the 2026 festival.
Join us at the Cordova Center lower atrium with your nature journals, foraging baskets, and stories from the weekend as we gather around the mushroom ID table and swap stories, ask the guides questions, and share with each other. This will be a fun close to the festival as we say goodbye to the friends we’ve made this weekend.

Dotty has selected The Tunnel of Love, a special mushroom hunting destination, to be the latest in her series of classes on needle felting the landscape of Cordova.
This workshop taught by Shane Shepherd will introduce the techniques and materials used in bark and tea tanning of fish skin to create leather. Participants will learn about gathering materials, skin preparation, tanning, and softening, and will receive resources for exploring the process further. Examples of salmon leather at various stages will be on display, along with a live demonstration of scaling and scraping a salmon skin.
Join Aviva at the Science Center for a nature yoga session. Nature yoga is where we dive into learning about the natural world around us and reflect on nature's lessons for living richer lives. This month's focus will be on mushrooms and what fungus can teach us about connecting while also letting go.
Please arrive 5 minutes beforehand and bring a yoga mat. Don't have a yoga mat? Don't worry! Let us know and we can bring extras.
