We are actively working on the 2026 Fungus Festival Schedule. Items below are confirmed but details may still be tweaked until the final schedule is released. The official schedule will be available soon!
Speaker: Aviva Kinoko
Aviva Kinoko, born in Israel, is an eco-world traveler passionate about mushrooms working and volunteering in mushroom farms around the world. She is a phenomenal painter, artist and yoga-instructor. She teaches Hebrew as well as speaks Spanish and is learning Arabic. She loves to cook and eat mushrooms and spends a lot of her time in nature with her beloved dog Amadou! Her vivacious attitude towards life brings out the best in others around her.
Shroomy Stretch Sesh with Aviva
Join Aviva at the Science Center for a nature yoga session. Nature yoga is where we dive into learning about the natural world around us and reflect on nature's lessons for living richer lives. This month's focus will be on mushrooms and what fungus can teach us about connecting while also letting go.
Please arrive 5 minutes beforehand and bring a yoga mat. Don't have a yoga mat? Don't worry! Let us know and we can bring extras.

Join us to learn more about mushroom identification and some valuable skill to help you out in the field this will be taught by Cordova’s own Madison Seigler.
Mushroom Stamp Carving & Printing Workshop

Learn the basics of Stamp Carving & Printing with a Mushroom Focus
Class includes small bags and cards to print on, students will have a 10% discount on items to print on during the class.
Keynote Presentation by Kate Mohatt
Kate Mohatt is a vegetation ecologist with the Chugach National Forest and founder of the Turnagain Arm Mycological Society. She has been collecting fungi in Alaska since 2006 and co-authored Mushrooms of the National Forests in Alaska. Kate contributes to the Girdwood Fungus Fair and Cordova Fungus Festival, sharing her expertise in botany, invasive plant management, and mycology. At the Forest Service, she leads field projects, coordinates seasonal staff, conducts plant surveys, completes biological evaluations for NEPA compliance, manages GIS databases, prepares project proposals, and provides botanical input for special use permits. She also gives presentations and reports to both public and internal audiences, bringing science and education together in her work.
